I was working in a job I LOVED. 5 days, around 60 hours a week. I fell pregnant which meant I could no longer do my manual laboured job, I needed something new, but where could I find a job that would suit my pregnant needs? I desperately needed that maternity wage whilst I was off and to have a job to support my baby boy when my maternity finished. Work had agreed I did a different job within the company that wasn’t as hands on – perfect, but did I really want to have 9 months off and then go back to that job? Hell no. I wanted a stay at home mum job, so I never had to leave him. Everyone and everybody already did nails, hair and makeup – that wasn’t really my thing. I remembered getting my lashes done for the first time, absolutely loving them, then them coming off and me feeling like some sort of bald pig! THAT’S IT, it clicked, I knew I had to do a lash course. Not many people were living in this craze of lash extensions so it was perfect, I booked on to a classic lash course (which was horrific lol) and spent the majority of weekends – week nights lashing my friends and family, at the time I thought I was UNREAL at lashes lol, I wasn’t. I still had a long way to go.
My son was born, and I spent most of my time looking after him and lash lash lashing, any opportunity I had, I lashed. 6 months passed, id cracked classics and knew I was ready to progress to Russian, so that was my next step. YES, IT WAS HARD, I quit more than 12 times, but I put the practise in and stuck my positive head on and remembered why I was doing it, and slowly started to feel good about it. 9 months flew by, I worked so so hard, I was a single mum with a baby about to go back to work, id gained new clients from word of mouth and people were starting to book me up, what a feeling. I went back to work, but my weeks were getting busier with lashing – I was cancelling my shifts and pissing me manager off. I didn’t need this job anymore, but what a big step, what if I didn’t have the clients, what if I didn’t make the money I needed to support my son and pay my mortgage? NO RISK, NO REWARD. 2 days a week I worked lashing, fully booked every week, soon my 2 days turned in to 3, then 4, this was my full time ever so demanding job, but I absolutely LOVED it. I was seeing more girls in the area do the lash course, which then opened a new door, MENTORING! People asking me to help them? People wanting to work like me? No way?! Gob smacked. But what a good feeling it was. Which then opened another door, LASH TRAINING! My courses were getting fully booked every week, students were creating amazing work, ALL from the training id given them. Speechless.
So now my son is 4, I’m expecting baby no 2 with the man of my dreams, all my students are still creating unreal work, my courses are fully booked until I head on to my second maternity, I have full product lash range which were selling worldwide, every single day!!
Moral of this story, anything is possible, work hard play hard. Remember, we all start in the same place, practise makes perfect. If I can do it, anybody can!
